We take five intentional minutes to notice what Monday reveals about the weight we carry from last week. We challenge the stories and assumptions that shape our presence, then choose one belief to set down so we can lead and work with intention.
• Monday as an honest mirror for unresolved weight
• The question “What am I bringing with me?”
• How last week disguises itself as this week
• Alignment as a perspective shift, not an outcome guarantee
• Awareness as a leadership practice that protects others from our baggage
• A simple action: set down one unhelpful belief before starting work

Good morning. Here's the time and energy morning brief for Monday, July 20th, 2026. Five intentional minutes before the world starts asking things of us. It's amazing how often we begin a new week carrying things that belong to the last one. An unfinished conversation. A decision we wish we'd made differently. A project that didn't go the way we'd hoped. Or maybe

it's nothing you could even point to. Just a heaviness you can't quite explain. I've learned that Mondays have a way of revealing what we're still holding. Not because Monday creates the weight, but because it removes the distractions that helped us ignore it. There's something honest about the start of a new week. It's an invitation to ask a simple question. What am I bringing with me? Because whether we realize it or not, and we're always bringing something, our expectations, our assumptions, our emotions, our stories about how this week is probably going to go. The challenge is that yesterday has a remarkable ability to disguise itself as tomorrow. A difficult meeting becomes, this week is going to be hard. A disappointing result becomes,

What You Are Carrying Forward

maybe I'm just not good at this. One frustrating conversation quietly becomes the lens through which we view every conversation that follows. It's subtle, but it matters. We experience reality through the stories we carry into it. One of the reasons alignment is so important isn't because it guarantees better outcomes, it's because it helps us begin again with intention instead of reaction. Time gives us another Monday. Alignment gives us another perspective. Those aren't the same gift. You can start a new week without ever starting fresh. I've done that more times than I'd like to admit. I've walked into a meeting already defending myself against something that hadn't happened. I've started a project already

expecting it to be exhausting. I've come home already mentally worn out by the day I assumed I was going to have. None of those moments were caused by the calendar. They were created by the assumptions I carried into it. That's why awareness is such a powerful leadership practice. Not because it changes the circumstances, because it gives you the chance to notice what you're carrying before you hand it to someone else. Leadership is the impact your presence has on others, and your presence is shaped long before you ever enter the room. So before this week gathers momentum, pause for just a moment. Ask yourself,

Awareness As A Leadership Practice

SPEAKER_00

what am I carrying into this week that doesn't belong here? Maybe it's disappointment. Maybe it's pressure you've placed on yourself. Maybe it's a conversation that's been replaying in your mind all weekend. Or maybe it's simply the belief that because last week was difficult, this

one has to be too. It doesn't. The past can inform you without defining you. So here's one thing to think about today. What story are you bringing into this week? And one thing to do choose one belief, one frustration, or one assumption that no longer serves you, and intentionally set it down before you pick up the work that's in front of you. A new week doesn't guarantee a new beginning, but your next decision just might If this resonated with you, please follow along and share it with someone you think might appreciate it.
